How does the bidding system work?

You either pay per click or per impression with Google Ads. A click is when someone goes to your website because they clicked on the ad. When someone searches for something, your ad shows up. If you pay per impression, you still have to pay even if they don’t click. Companies that do marketing will often use pay-per-impression to make their numbers look good (“we got you 50,000 impressions!”). But, of course, that doesn’t matter when it comes to getting people to buy something.

You can choose how much you want to pay for each click when you start a pay-per-click promotion. After that, Google looks at your bid along with bids from other people in your area that are using the same words or sentences. It’s possible that you will show up higher if you bid more. But Google also looks at how relevant a page is. This means that Google will show ads more often if it thinks the landing page is highly relevant and trustworthy.

What is page relevancy?

One thing that Google Ads looks at to decide how well your ads will do in search results is how relevant the page is. Google has a very smart algorithm that can tell if your ads are really selling the same services that you talk about on your landing pages. Along with that, it will look at how fast your website loads and your general online reputation (do other good websites link to you?). We want your relevancy score to be as high as possible so that we don’t have to bid as much on keywords to get you to show up well. Giving us access to your website so we can change or make new landing pages is the best way to make sure of this.

How much to spend on a campaign?

There isn’t a real limit on how much you can spend on a campaign, but not spending enough makes it harder to get data and make changes. We suggest spending at least R3000 on the ads because of this. We won’t make you spend too much on your first Google Ads campaign. We actually like it when you spend a modest amount of money until we can really fine-tune your ads and landing pages so that you get the most for your money.
